A booking system in your clients’ language: why it matters for older clients
A client who doesn’t understand the booking page doesn’t book. Why language and simplicity matter most in physiotherapy, podiatry and other services with older clients.

In short
- Even one step in a foreign language, such as the email or reminder, can be the reason to give up.
- Older clients struggle with tiny buttons, passwords and too many choices on one screen.
- Clients who keep calling should go into the same calendar, with a phone number for reminders.

Why language matters more than it seems
A client who doesn't understand the booking page doesn't book. They won't leave a review or complain; they'll simply close the page and call. Or not call at all.
Many booking systems are built for big markets, and the local language is only partial: a button translated, but the confirmation email, the time picker and the cancellation rules still in English. For a young client who uses apps in English every day, that's no problem. For a client in their sixties, it is often the reason to give up.
Physiotherapy, podiatry and other services with older clients
In services where many clients are older, language and simplicity matter even more:
- Physiotherapy and rehabilitation, where clients come regularly, often several weeks in a row.
- Podiatry, where many clients are 50, 60 or older, and a visit is a need, not a treat.
- Massage, cosmetology and other services with a broad client base.
These clients are often booked by their children or grandchildren. But when booking yourself is easy, a person feels more independent, and you lose the go-between who sometimes forgets to pass the message on.
What stops an older client booking online
- A foreign language at any step, even just in the email or reminder.
- Small text and tiny buttons that are hard to hit with a finger.
- Mandatory sign-up with a password nobody remembers a month later.
- Too many choices on one screen and no clear next step.
None of these is big on its own, but together they become a reason to put booking off until “I'll call later”.
What to check in a system
- The whole path in your clients' language: page, time picker, confirmation, emails, reminders, cancelling.
- Booking without a password or account. Just a name and contact details.
- Big, clear steps on a phone: one choice per screen.
- A reminder that arrives without email, such as SMS.
- Cancelling with one link, no phone call and no password.
- A way to book clients yourself for those who call anyway.
Clients who will keep calling
Online booking won't replace the phone for everyone, and it doesn't have to. Some clients will always call, and that's fine. What matters is that those bookings go into the same calendar, not a separate notebook. Then the online page never offers a time you already gave away on the phone.
One more thing: when a client calls, save their phone number. Even without an email, a reminder can go by SMS. Why that pays off is covered in Do you need SMS reminders if you have email?.
Health data: less is better
In physiotherapy and podiatry, clients tend to talk about their health. A booking system needs only as much of that as the work requires, for example “sensitive skin” or “no heat”. Diagnoses and medical documents belong elsewhere, not in booking notes.
That protects both the client and you: the less sensitive data you hold, the less risk if someone sees it who shouldn't.
How it works in RINDIQ
The RINDIQ booking page, emails and reminders are available in Latvian and English. Clients can switch language on the page, and every message reaches them in the language they booked in. Booking needs no account or password, runs step by step, with big buttons on a phone.

A client who calls can be entered by you, even with just a phone number and no email. That client can get their reminder by SMS. Clients who booked online can cancel or reschedule from the link in their email, no password needed. For now the page is in Latvian and English only.
